Dre is a 9 year old male pit bull. Once he gets to know you, he is very friendly and lovable. He would do good as the only pet in the home, with adults or older children only. Despite being a senior boy, he has a lot of energy so he will require a fenced-in yard where he can play in between walks with his owner. Dre knows his basic commands such as down and sit. He can even shake your hand. If you’re looking for a very hearty dog with a lots of love to give, Dre may be the dog for you.
This is Jax, a 9 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. Jax is a great dog for an active family. Jax would do well in an environment where he has lots of exercise or a specific job to do. He’s very smart and loyal but needs stimulation. Jax likes to herd and he uses his mouth to pull you somewhere to show you something. Small children would probably not be a good fit but as long as you understand how Jax operates and behaves you will quickly learn Jax is an awesome dog and very very smart. He will require a special home though: he needs to have a single female owner, he does not do well with men. Come to the shelter and meet him and you will see for yourself how awesome Jax is.
I’m Baba, an 8 year old pit bull mix. I’ve called the shelter home since I was a puppy. I’m a really sweet, playful boy who loves to give kisses, but I will need a special home. I will have to be the only pet in an adult home, with a fenced-in yard to call my own. I need a responsible, experienced handler that can keep me away from other animals. I get anxious outside of my room, so I need someone to work with me to help me feel comfortable.
I’m Ezra, a 2 year old shepherd mix. I was rescued from an awful situation, which causes me to be very untrusting and scared of people that I don’t know. I’m really hoping someone will come along and see the potential I have to be their best friend. I just need someone who is willing to be patient and get to know me. I need an experienced adult home, I am dog selective so if you have a dog already, we will have to meet first.

I’m Princess, a sweet 12 year old shepherd/rottweiler mix. I lost my home when my owner’s house was foreclosed on, and they could no longer care for me. I’ve been waiting here at the shelter for my forever family for several years. I need a home with adults or older children and without cats. I will need to meet your dog first if you have one. I’m shy and any potential adopters should know that I will require a little patience, but it will be very rewarding for both of us if you give me a chance.
Hey, Briggs here. I’m a 2 1/2 year old curr/hound mix. I’m a handsome guy who you’re sure to love once you get to know me. The shelter says that I could use some basic training, which is totally fine with me, I’ll do whatever it takes to find my forever family. I’m in search of an active adult home as the only pet. I’ll also need a fenced-in yard where I can run and play with you.
Teddy bear alert! I’m Tater, a senior guy looking for someone to spend my golden years with. I’m a 13 year old chow chow. Hey, I’m Lola, a 10 year old Rottweiler mix. I’m a gentle senior girl who’s still searching for my forever home. I’d enjoy a family that consists of older kids or adults. I am dog selective though, so I’d have to meet your dog before I can make any commitments. Please let me spend my golden years in a home.
Coco (tan female) & Dobie (black/brown male) are 13 year old chihuahua mixes. Coco is calm and gentle, while Dobie still has a bit of spunk. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home together; they are available for adoption or foster. They like other small dogs, but don’t like big dogs. They are looking for a quiet, adult home, and are available for foster or adoption.
Sammi is a 4 year old female chihuahua. She came from a 200+ dog hoarding situation, so she had very little human contact before coming to the shelter. She would love a patient adult-only home, maybe even with a dog brother/sister. She just needs time and understanding so she can learn that humans are good.
I’m Dior! I’m an 8 year old terrier mix, and a little sweetheart who loves going on walks. I’m an active girl looking for an active family to go on adventures with. I would like to be the only pet in my new home, but I do good with kids and I would make a great addition to your family.
Katrina is a 4 year old Plott hound mix, originally found as a stray. She was adopted last year but was sadly returned because her new owner was moving. She is super sweet & good with kids. She is very active and will require a fenced-in yard.
Yin is the other half of Yang whom has already been adopted. Yin is a six year old female American Bulldog and Hound Mix. She would do well in an adult home with no other pets. Mya was found as a stray in the summer of 2014, and brought to Dogs & Cats Forever No-Kill Shelter in Fort Pierce, FL. She had mange and was put on several medications by a veterinarian, but sadly, she had an allergic reaction to her medications, and developed an autoimmune response to her meds. She has been to specialists in Stuart, West Palm Beach, and Gainesville, at the University of Florida. She is slowly getting better but has run up more than $5,000.00 in vet bills and medication costs. Her vets say that it could take more than a year for her to recover fully. Mya is only a year old and has a wonderful personality despite being in and out of clinics and given medicine almost nonstop.
Mya needs veterinary care for many months to come, and while Dogs & Cats Forever is currently responsible for her care, we are a private animal shelter which receives no financial assistance from local government, and we need help to pay her bills. Please help Mya get better so she can one day find a forever home.
