I’m Sadie, a 10 year old lab/shepherd mix, let’s get to know each other. I’m an absolute doll once you get to know me. I am a goofy girl who will wiggle and wag at the sight of a leash; I LOVE walks! I’m not only beautiful, I’m smart too. I know my basic commands and will gladly give you my paw. I need a living situation that can be difficult to find. I would do best as the only pet in a home with one adult person. The reason is, once I find a person of my own, I can be very protective of that person. I promise to make up for it with endless love, loyalty and lots of kisses.
Beautiful Dre could be your newest family member! This 9 year old pit bull boy knows his basic commands and loves to play fetch! He’s got energy to burn and would appreciate a fenced-in yard where he can play when he’s not out on walks with his owner. Dre’s ideal home would be one where he can be a solo pup with adults or older kids. Stop by the shelter to meet this sweet man!
I’m Ezra, a 2 year old shepherd mix. I was rescued from an awful situation, which causes me to be very untrusting and scared of people that I don’t know. I’m really hoping someone will come along and see the potential I have to be their best friend. I just need someone who is willing to be patient and get to know me. I need an experienced adult home, I am dog selective so if you have a dog already, we will have to meet first.
This happy guy is named Diesel. Diesel is a 9 year old Lab/American Bulldog mix. He loves to play and has a great disposition. Diesel needs lots of exercise so if you have a big fenced-in yard or love to go on walks Diesel may be the dog for you.
I’m Jeffrey, a 5 year old curr mix! I came to the shelter as a stray, I was found wandering in the rain. I’m a quiet & calm boy, but I am nervous so I need someone who understands that. I am looking for a quiet adult home, as the only pet, and will need a fenced-in yard. I get nervous with a lot of people around, but I promise to be a loyal companion to my future adopter.
I’m Princess, a sweet 12 year old shepherd/rottweiler mix. I lost my home when my owner’s house was foreclosed on, and they could no longer care for me. I’ve been waiting here at the shelter for my forever family for several years. I need a home with adults or older children and without cats. I will need to meet your dog first if you have one. I’m shy and any potential adopters should know that I will require a little patience, but it will be very rewarding for both of us if you give me a chance.
Hey, I’m Rex, a 4 year old german shepherd. I can be a little people selective. But those who have gotten to know me call me a sweet guy. I have some medical issues that make it hard for me to be adopted, the staff can tell you more about that. I need an experienced handler in an adult home as the only pet. I promise to be loyal to my owner.
Prince is a handsome six-year-old boy who arrived at the shelter with his siblings, Harper and Hailey. He is very social with other cats and he likes people. He would be happiest in a calm home with another cat.
Great news! Prince’s adoption fee has been paid by his Guardian Angel.
Penelope is a 15 year old girl who was adopted in 2006 but was returned a few years back when her family was expecting a new baby. She loves to sit on your shoulder and purr in your ear. She is extremely loving and sweet. She is available for permanent foster as well as adoption. She is pictured with Blackie.
Great news!!!! My adoption fee has been paid by my Guardian Angel
Hey, Luke here. I’m a sweet guy looking for my forever home. I’m a 3 year old Lab/Blue heeler mix. I’m good with other dogs and need an adult home. My sister, Leah, is up for adoption too; it would be pretty cool if we could go to a home together, but if you only have room for one that’s okay too.
I’m Leah, a 3 year old lab/blue heeler mix. I’m a super sweet girl but I’m scared at first. I’m good with other dogs and need an adult home. I love to swim. I’m pretty good at jumping fences so I need someone who has time to walk me and/or supervise me in a yard. My brother, Luke, is up for adoption too; it would be pretty cool id we could go to a home together, but if you only have room for one, that’s okay too.
I’m Petey, a 6 year old American bulldog mix. I’m a good boy but I do need an experienced owner who is comfortable with big dogs. I’ll give you more kisses than any other dog. I want to be your one and only; I need to be an only pet and require an adult-only home. My last request is a nice fenced-in yard where I can run my energy out and play with you!
The names Lola. I’m a 9 year old Rottweiler/Boxer mix, so you could say I’ve got a few years of experience in the fine art of friendship. I’m a lively & playful senior girl who would make the perfect companion for a lucky family out there! I would do well in a home with adults or older children, and I even get along with other dogs & cats. Not only am I extremely sweet, I’m smart too. I’ve got my basic commands down and if you wanted to throw me a few treats, I’d be eager to learn more. Every dog deserves to spend their golden years in a loving home, and I’ll be waiting for my people to find me!
Sammi is a 4 year old female chihuahua. She came from a 200+ dog hoarding situation, so she had very little human contact before coming to the shelter. She would love a patient adult-only home, maybe even with a dog brother/sister. She just needs time and understanding so she can learn that humans are good.
Yin is a 7 year old Lab/American Bulldog mix who has called the shelter her home for many years, but she is hopeful that some day her special person will find her. She would like to be someone’s one and only baby, so she is in search of a home without other pets. Yin is very playful and desires a fenced-in yard to call her own. She prefers men over women. This beautiful girl truly has the potential to be an incredible companion.
Mya was found as a stray in the summer of 2014, and brought to Dogs & Cats Forever No-Kill Shelter in Fort Pierce, FL. She had mange and was put on several medications by a veterinarian, but sadly, she had an allergic reaction to her medications, and developed an autoimmune response to her meds. She has been to specialists in Stuart, West Palm Beach, and Gainesville, at the University of Florida. She is slowly getting better but has run up more than $5,000.00 in vet bills and medication costs. Her vets say that it could take more than a year for her to recover fully. Mya is only a year old and has a wonderful personality despite being in and out of clinics and given medicine almost nonstop.
Mya needs veterinary care for many months to come, and while Dogs & Cats Forever is currently responsible for her care, we are a private animal shelter which receives no financial assistance from local government, and we need help to pay her bills. Please help Mya get better so she can one day find a forever home.

Great news! Hawthorne’s adoption fee has been prepaid by a Guardian Angel
Hawthorne is a young cat who has tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (also called FIV or feline AIDS). He was rescued after being dumped at a local park. He is a sweet and loving boy who was obviously a house pet as a kitten, but as so often happens, was no longer wanted after he grew into a cat. Hawthorne would be perfect for a family of any age. Hawthorne has lots of love to give and he wants to give it all to you!
Bojangles was trapped accidentally by a staff member, who was trying to capture another cat which had run away from her home. Bojangles had scars from many fights with other unneutered male cats and, sadly, tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Now that he has been neutered and has been at the shelter for awhile, he is looking-and feeling-much better, and staff and volunteers love his sweet personality. Bojangles never had a real home, but we are sure he would love a chance to be part of a loving family. What does owning a FIV+ cat entail? Click here to learn more.
Great News! Bojangles’ adoption fee has been paid by a Guardian Angel
