Leah

ONE YEAR WITH NO INTEREST, WILL ANYONE EVER COME FOR ME? My name is Leah. I’m starting to think that nobody will give me a chance. I would make an excellent companion for an active adult family and I like other dogs. I’m a girl who loves to have fun, go swimming and would enjoy having a fenced-in yard to run and play in with my people! When I see someone that I don’t know, I bark. Trust me, I’m all talk – I have to alert my people when a stranger is near! But, just ignore me for a minute, and I will soon become your new best friend. Unfortunately, most would just dismiss a dog like me and walk on by, and that’s why I’ve been here for over a year. I’m a real sweet heart once I know you, and it doesn’t take much time or effort. I might put up a front but I’ll melt in your hands like putty shortly after. Loads of love and licks are in the future of my adopter.

Female, Lab mix, 4 years

SADIE

13 1/2 YEAR OLD- LAB/SHEPHERD MIX- FEMALE

I’m Sadie, let’s get to know each other. I’m an absolute doll once you get to know me.  I love walks! I’m not only beautiful, I’m smart too. I know my basic commands and will gladly give you my paw.  I would do best in an adult only home with no pets, since I feel the need to be protective of the person I love. I promise to make up for it with endless love, loyalty and lots of kisses.

Jeffrey

7 year old-Curr Mix-Male

My name is Jeffrey. I came to the shelter as a stray.  I get very nervous around people. I need a quiet adult only home, with someone who would be patient with me.  I would like to have a fenced-in yard, along with being the only pet. I’m looking forward to finding my forever home!

Rex

Rex

Hey, I’m Rex, a 4 year old german shepherd. I can be a little people selective. But those who have gotten to know me call me a sweet guy. I have some medical issues that make it hard for me to be adopted, the staff can tell you more about that. I need an experienced handler in an adult home as the only pet. I promise to be loyal to my owner.

Luke

5 year old – Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog & Blue Heeler -Male

My name is Luke.  I’m a sweet guy looking for my forever home.  I can be dog selective, and I need an adult only home.  I like to jump high and run.  I  would require a high fenced-in yard to release my energy. I love going in the pool and chasing balls. I could use some training, but I promise I would be your best friend. Please just give me a chance… Looking forward to meeting my new family!

Yin

8 1/2  year old – Lab/American Pit mix -Female

Yin, has called the shelter her home for many years, but she is hopeful that someday her special person will find her.  Yin is very playful and desires a fenced-in yard.  She prefers men over women, and would do best in an adult only home with no pets. This beautiful girl is looking for her forever home!

Furball

Furball is a three year old tabby boy who came to the shelter after his owner passed away. He was originally owned by a man and he loves men. Furball needs a quiet adult home with lots of TLC. He does require special food  which the shelter would be able to provide.

GREAT NEWS!! FURBALL’S ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN PAID BY A GUARDIAN ANGEL!

A Job Well Done!

Liz_SushiBeing a non-profit no kill animal shelter is no easy task. Ask any of the number of volunteers who assist Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc. on a regular basis. Money is always tight, help is sometimes short. Every donation whether its a can of food or as simple as a dollar bill is always accepted with grace and humility on behalf of the dogs and cats entrusted to the care of the shelter.

One such volunteer in 2013 stands out. Liz Levanti, a sixteen year old sophomore at Lincoln Park Academy in Ft. Pierce started a donation drive for the animals at Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc. As part of her curriculum in the International Baccalaureate program offered through the school, Liz volunteered at Dogs and Cats Forever throughout the summer and fall of 2013. She took pictures of dogs and cats, started a Facebook page to keep people updated on the status of the fund drive and also displayed pictures in her mothers salon.

Liz raised more then $3500 in cash and donated goods to assist the animals at Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc.

It’s not everyday a person walks through the front door and donates such a significant amount of money and items. Its not every day a sixteen year old high school sophomore does it when her peers are spending the summers and weekends at the movies and beach.

Today Dogs and Cats Forever recognizes Liz for her fantastic achievements with a pizza lunch. Oh did I mention Liz is spending a portion of her spring break volunteering at the shelter? She is.

lizparty3
