I’m Ezra, a 2 year old shepherd mix. I was rescued from an awful situation, which causes me to be very untrusting and scared of people that I don’t know. I’m really hoping someone will come along and see the potential I have to be their best friend. I just need someone who is willing to be patient and get to know me. I need an experienced adult home, I am dog selective so if you have a dog already, we will have to meet first.
Hola, I’m Dahlia, a 4 year old pit bull. I was flown here from Puerto Rico following hurricane Irma. The staff knew right away that I had a home previously, because of how sweet and well behaved I am. I’m young and playful, so I will need a fenced-in yard. I would make an excellent family dog. I’m just waiting for the right family to come along and fall in love with me.
Teddy bear alert! I’m Tater, a senior guy looking for someone to spend my golden years with. I’m a 13 year old chow chow. I was adopted 11 years ago, but my owner became ill and sadly we had to part ways. I need a quiet adult home where I can be the only pet, and your sole focus. I love going on walks and I really hope I can find a patient and experienced person to retire with.
Hey, Luke here. I’m a sweet guy looking for my forever home. I’m a 3 year old Lab/Blue heeler mix. I’m good with other dogs and need an adult home. My sister, Leah, is up for adoption too; it would be pretty cool if we could go to a home together, but if you only have room for one that’s okay too.
I’m Leah, a 3 year old lab/blue heeler mix. I’m a super sweet girl but I’m scared at first. I’m good with other dogs and need an adult home. I love to swim. I’m pretty good at jumping fences so I need someone who has time to walk me and/or supervise me in a yard. My brother, Luke, is up for adoption too; it would be pretty cool id we could go to a home together, but if you only have room for one, that’s okay too.
I’m Comet and I found my way to the shelter as a stray. I’ve been crowned scruffiest pupper here at the shelter. I’m an adorable 3 year old terrier mix with the cutest underbite. I love to go on walks and I’m pretty active, so a fenced-in yard would be great for me! I’m a total cuddle bug and I’m hoping to find a human of my own in an adult home very soon.
I’m Petey, a 6 year old American bulldog mix. I’m a good boy but I do need an experienced owner who is comfortable with big dogs. I’ll give you more kisses than any other dog. I want to be your one and only; I need to be an only pet and require an adult-only home. My last request is a nice fenced-in yard where I can run my energy out and play with you!
Hey, I’m Lola, a 10 year old Rottweiler mix. I’m a gentle senior girl who’s still searching for my forever home. I’d enjoy a family that consists of older kids or adults. I am dog selective though, so I’d have to meet your dog before I can make any commitments. Please let me spend my golden years in a home.
I’m Hetfield, a 7 year old shepherd mix. I’m a nice guy but I want you all to myself. I’d like to be an only dog. I’m all you’ll need and I’ll show you why. Come meet me and let me charm you.
Coco (tan female) & Dobie (black/brown male) are 13 year old chihuahua mixes. Coco is calm and gentle, while Dobie still has a bit of spunk. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home together; they are available for adoption or foster. They like other small dogs, but don’t like big dogs. They are looking for a quiet, adult home, and are available for foster or adoption.
Sammi is a 4 year old female chihuahua. She came from a 200+ dog hoarding situation, so she had very little human contact before coming to the shelter. She would love a patient adult-only home, maybe even with a dog brother/sister. She just needs time and understanding so she can learn that humans are good.
Katrina is a 4 year old Plott hound mix, originally found as a stray. She was adopted last year but was sadly returned because her new owner was moving. She is super sweet & good with kids. She is very active and will require a fenced-in yard.
Mimi is an eight year old female Boxer/Beagle Mix. She is very high energy and loves to run around. A fenced-in yard would be a bonus but lots of walks and exercise on a leash could also suffice. Mimi knows basic commands such as sit and stay. She is also house broken. She gets along with other dogs and kids, but likes to bark and chase cats. Mimi likes to swim and play in the pool.

A field of 78 golfers enjoyed a great day of golf, lunch and prizes. As a result of our great field of golfers, our sponsors and event host, Mary Ann and her great volunteers, Julie, Maureen, Caroline, Danielle and Jane, the event brought in $4,100.00 for Dogs & Cats Forever, Inc., a No-Kill animal shelter.
Thanks to the most gracious hosts, Jack & Ceejay Heckenberg (pictured here with Jim and Vita Marie Torres), the fundraiser held at their home on Sunday, March 24th brought in $13,580.00 for Dogs & Cats Forever, Inc. a no kill animal shelter in Fort Pierce, Florida.
One hundred and seventy-two guests dined on appetizers from sponsors such as Cuisine256, OooLaLa Catering, Tutto Fresco, and many more. Beverages were provided by Southern Eagle Distributors. Top notch entertainment consisted of “All Around Entertainment for You” with Melissa & Rich. The flowers donated by St. Lucie Florist graced the tables that were donated by Eventmakers. Our volunteer bartenders were Chris Dobek and Jimmy Tresco, our wait staff Jackie Massaro, and Melissa Reese. Our Photographer & Artist, Karla Smith drove up from Boca Raton to capture the event. Additional photography was provided by Marisol Guntkowski.
Every guest went home with a “Doggie Bag” provided by PrimeK9Cuisine of Miami and BoneAppetit out of Casselberry, Florida.
The committee chairs, Kathy DiChiara, Fran Fernandes, Angela Gardella, Mich Moeding, and Amy Vanderbreggen’s teamwork was evident at this function. Everything went off with out a hitch. Let’s not forget the volunteers Porcha Beneditti, MaryLou Flynn, Judy Marchionni, Hilda Rosa and Jan Zeek. None of their husbands got off easy either, they were put to work behind the scenes.
All and all the hard work paid off because it was a tremendous success!
