Ezra is an almost 2 year old shepherd mix. Her rescue situation causes her to be untrusting and scared of new people. She needs an experienced, adult-only home that will take the time to get to know her to see that she is a great dog. She is a very active and will require a fenced-in yard. She is dog selective and her opinion on cats is unknown.
Coco is an 8 year old male lab. Coco had a loving family but they were forced to give him up during rough times. He is nervous being surrounded by other dogs in the shelter so he would prefer to be the only dog in his home. He does like cats though, and will need a fenced-in yard. Coco is super sweet and will love you forever.
Dahlia is a gorgeous 4 year old pit bull who was flown in from Puerto Rico following hurricane Irma! She is very strong but sweet. Dahlia will require a fenced-in yard. She’s very active and playful. She is striking with her black and white markings and will make a great family dog.
Zoey AKA Blue is a beautiful 8 year old female blue heeler. She is very affectionate and loves to play ball. Zoey will require a fenced-in yard and needs to be the only pet in the home but is a happy go lucky dog and good with older children.
Kygo is a 3 year old male shepherd mix. He would do great in a home with an active adult-only family. He needs a home with a fenced-in yard.
Did you know we have a big teddy bear up for adoption? His name is Tater, he’s a senior chow chow boy. He was adopted from us 11 years ago, but unfortunately his adopter became ill and had to bring him back. He needs an experienced owner that can dedicate their time to him only – he would like to be the only pet in an adult home. He’s now waiting for a patient & understanding person to come along and care for him in his golden years.
Luke is a 3 year old lab/blue heeler mix. He’s a sweet boy that likes other dogs and needs an adult home. His sister, Leah, is also available for adoption.
Leah is a 3 year old lab/blue heeler mix. She is a little shy at first but is a really sweet girl. She loves to swim. Leah likes other dogs and will need an adult home. She is pretty good at jumping fences so she will need someone who has time to walk her and/or supervise her in a yard. Her brother Luke is also available for adoption.
Comet is a sweet 3 year old terrier mix that came in as a stray. He would prefer an adult only home. He loves to run so he will need a fenced-in yard.
Petey is a 6 year old American Bulldog mix. He is a sweet dog that requires an experienced adult-only home and a fenced-in yard. He needs to be the only pet in his new home as well.
Lola is a sweet as can be 10 year old female Rottweiler mix. She would do best in a home with older kids or adults only. She can be dog selective, so homes with other dogs should come meet her first!
Hetfield is a 7 year old shepherd mix. He’s a sweet boy, but would like a home where he is the one and only dog.
Coco (tan female) & Dobie (black/brown male) are 13 year old chihuahua mixes. Coco is calm and gentle, while Dobie still has a bit of spunk. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home together; they are available for adoption or foster. They like other small dogs, but don’t like big dogs. They are looking for a quiet, adult home.
Sammi is a 4 year old female chihuahua. She came from a 200+ dog hoarding situation, so she had very little human contact before coming to the shelter. She would love a patient adult-only home, maybe even with a dog brother/sister. She just needs time and understanding so she can learn that humans are good.
Lexi is an 11 month old female brindle pit mix. She is super sweet, silly and full of energy. She would do well in an adult home and gets along with other dogs.
Dior is an 8 year old female terrier mix. She is very active and loves long walks. She would like to be the only pet, but she loves kids and would make an excellent family dog.
Katrina is a 4 year old Plott hound mix, originally found as a stray. She was adopted last year but was sadly returned because her new owner was moving. She is super sweet & good with kids. She is very active and will require a fenced-in yard.
Mimi is an eight year old female Boxer/Beagle Mix. She is very high energy and loves to run around. A fenced-in yard would be a bonus but lots of walks and exercise on a leash could also suffice. Mimi knows basic commands such as sit and stay. She is also house broken. She gets along with other dogs and kids, but likes to bark and chase cats. Mimi likes to swim and play in the pool.

A field of 78 golfers enjoyed a great day of golf, lunch and prizes. Thanks to the most gracious hosts, Jack & Ceejay Heckenberg (pictured here with Jim and Vita Marie Torres), the fundraiser held at their home on Sunday, March 24th brought in $13,580.00 for Dogs & Cats Forever, Inc. a no kill animal shelter in Fort Pierce, Florida.
One hundred and seventy-two guests dined on appetizers from sponsors such as Cuisine256, OooLaLa Catering, Tutto Fresco, and many more. Beverages were provided by Southern Eagle Distributors. Top notch entertainment consisted of “All Around Entertainment for You” with Melissa & Rich. The flowers donated by St. Lucie Florist graced the tables that were donated by Eventmakers. Our volunteer bartenders were Chris Dobek and Jimmy Tresco, our wait staff Jackie Massaro, and Melissa Reese. Our Photographer & Artist, Karla Smith drove up from Boca Raton to capture the event. Additional photography was provided by Marisol Guntkowski.
Every guest went home with a “Doggie Bag” provided by PrimeK9Cuisine of Miami and BoneAppetit out of Casselberry, Florida.
The committee chairs, Kathy DiChiara, Fran Fernandes, Angela Gardella, Mich Moeding, and Amy Vanderbreggen’s teamwork was evident at this function. Everything went off with out a hitch. Let’s not forget the volunteers Porcha Beneditti, MaryLou Flynn, Judy Marchionni, Hilda Rosa and Jan Zeek. None of their husbands got off easy either, they were put to work behind the scenes.
All and all the hard work paid off because it was a tremendous success!
