Happenings at the Shelter

Recently as a direct result of successful fundraising by some very dedicated staff and volunteers at Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc. the shelter was able to upgrade its washer and dryer to a more commercial solution.

As you can imagine the amount of laundry that needs to be washed and dried when operating the premier no kill animal shelter on the Treasure Coast, can quickly become daunting and expensive. We were constantly running the residential washer and dryer day and night to keep up with the work load. Electric and repair bills for the old equipment were mounting so a decision was made to move to a commercial solution.

Now we can wash and dry a days worth of laundry in less then five loads and two hours of running time. The dryer is a gas model and uses even less electrical consumption when its running.

Martin County Propane donated the propane tank and the entire installation of the gas system at no cost to Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc. saving the shelter about $2000 in parts and labor. Martin County Propane also supplies Dogs and Cats Forever gas at a very discounted price which we are eternally grateful.

The shelter staff and volunteers now spend less time doing laundry and more time with the most important task of seeing to the welfare and benefit of the dogs and cats that are entrusted to our care.

These measures would not be possible without the support of the community who has over and over again been generous to Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc. needs to provide a safe, loving and caring environment for the most at risk and unwanted animals. Thank you for your continued generosity and support of Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc.
