Hazel’s story is one of incredible resilience. After a tragic incident where she was shot in the back with a BB gun and left paralyzed, Hazel has made remarkable progress. Thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, she is now walking—and she no longer needs her stroller! It’s amazing to see how quickly she gets around and how joyfully she plays with the other dogs in the yard.

Hazel’s upper body is strong—just like her spirit. She’s a people-loving pup with a heart full of determination. While she once relied on stroller rides to explore the world, she now walks proudly on her own.

Hazel would thrive as a second dog in a household, as she absolutely loves the company of other dogs. She’s ready for adoption, and meet-and-greets can be scheduled to find her perfect match. The shelter team will support her new family every step of the way to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Hippo is a sweet middle- aged adult boy who was found with an injury to his face. he’s a very sweet boy who would do well in a home as an only cat.

Miata is a one year-old girl who was found on I 95. She’s very sweet and loves people, but she would prefer being an only cat. She needs an active home with young adults.

I was trying to find myself a home but somehow I wound up on I 95. I made it to the median and then I was afraid to do anything but wait for help. But, fortunately someone came along and took me to safety. I am a sweet kitty and I am only about a year old. I really must be an only cat but that’s OK-I’m so awesome you won’t need anyone else but me.

Stevie is sweet as can be, even when faced with the challenge of not being able to see or hear, he is a bundle of fun. Once he know his surroundings, he gets along just fine. Stevie and his sister, Wonder, do love to be together and are quick to make new friends with other dogs. They do not have to go to their forever home together, but it would be lovely when they both find a home with another dog who can help them with their challenges.

Martini is a handsome one year year-old who never had a real home of his own. He needs an owner with patience and understanding to help him learn to trust.

FEMALE – LABRADOR/TERRIER MIX – BORN APPROX: SEP 2020 – AT SHELTER SINCE: MAY 2023

Meet Nala, a beautiful Labrador/Terrier mix, born around September 2020, who has been at Dogs and Cats Forever since May 2023. Affectionately called “Nala Bear” by her volunteer angel, this sweet girl has been waiting far too long for her forever home, and she truly deserves the chance to be someone’s beloved companion.

Nala is such a good girl whose tail quite literally never stops wagging. She’s full of life, easily entertained with toys, and loves to play ball or splash around in the pool. She is energetic and playful, yet just as happy to curl up beside you, soak up belly rubs, or snuggle in bed at night. About once a month, she gets the chance to leave the shelter for a special sleepover with her volunteer angel, and she has never had an accident in the house. She proves time and again how well she thrives in a home environment. But aside from that one night a month, Nala spends all her time in the shelter, still waiting for her forever family.

While she can be a little selective with her doggie friends, Nala adores people and makes friends easily wherever she goes. After spending so long in the shelter, she’s ready to finally have a family—a place where she can be your loyal companion, your couch buddy, and your forever “Nala Bear.” Please come meet her and see if she’s the missing piece of your heart.

WHISKEY (AKA BIG MAC)

MALE – TERRIER MIX – BORN SOMETIME 2020 – AT SHELTER SINCE: AUG 2023

Whiskey is a friendly and easygoing Pity boy, born sometime in 2020. He’s been at the shelter since August 2023 and, despite being such an awesome dog, he hasn’t received the attention he truly deserves. Whiskey has a calm, gentle nature and quickly warms up to new people. He isn’t a big cuddler, but he loves a good belly rub and gentle pets, showing his soft side once he feels comfortable and secure in his surroundings. With time and trust, he’s the kind of dog who settles in beautifully and becomes a loyal companion.

Whiskey enjoys simple pleasures like playing with stuffed toys, spending time in the yard, and even cooling off in the pool on warm days. He loves going for walks and is very good on a leash, though he can be a bit strong at times.
Whiskey would thrive in a home with adults and teenagers who will give him the chance to open up and show just how wonderful he really is. Once you meet him, it’s hard not to fall for his charm.

LIL BUBS

MALE – TERRIER MIX – BORN APPROX: FEB 2023 – AT SHELTER SINCE: JULY 2023

Lil’ Bubs is a handsome, smart, and strong terrier mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is a silly, playful boy who loves his walks, splashing in the pool, and burning off his energy any chance he gets.

Bubs is very intelligent and  knows basic commands. He is housebroken and eager to learn more.  He will do best with a confident adopter who can provide structure, guidance, and consistency. He can be a strong walker on leash and needs plenty of daily exercise to get his wiggles out.

This energetic guy would thrive in an active home with a large, fenced yard where he can run, play, and swim to his heart’s content
( pool is not required…). He does not like cats and does best with select dogs, especially with proper introductions.

Pocahontas is a young tabby girl, who came to the shelter is a shy kitten. She’s very sweet and gentle and would love it forever family in a quiet home

Chevy is friendly and outgoing, walks well on a leash and has quickly become a shelter fave! All indications are that he is housebroken. He is non-reactive to cats and seems to do well around other dogs though a meet and greet with all family members would be required. A fenced yard would also be necessary for this guy. I’m a beautiful thirteen-year-old girl who was at the shelter for 3 1/2 years before I was adopted last spring. Unfortunately, my owners lost their home and I had to come back to the shelter. I’m very sweet and I love to interact with people, but I don’t like to be picked up and I’m not comfortable jumping on anything higher than a chair. I often greet visitors at the back door and I am the first cat you see when you come into the building! I am tolerant of other cats but I would enjoy being your one and only. Dogs & Cats Forever Inc. strives to end animal abuse and neglect. Our shelter is not connected to any other animal society. It’s a non-profit, 501, tax exempt project and is totally dependent on donations and endowments. Within the last 3 months we have had young pregnant dogs dumped/abandoned at our shelter that had required emergency c-sections. We were able to save a couple of puppies, but others have died and caused uterus infections in some of the mama dogs. This is not to mention other dogs/cats that have been dropped off with severe skin infections and other medical issues. “Mercy” who just came in yesterday with a dead puppy sticking out of her, is just one example of what our shelter is doing. Due to COVID 19 and lack of donations we are struggling with excessive vet cost. Mercy’s vet bill alone will be between $1700-$2100 (receipt can be provided). We are committed to be a “NO-KILL” shelter and do our best in caring for all the animals in the shelter. Without your continued support our shelter may not be able to help these animals with these extreme medical cost.
