Looking for a friend who has spunk and smarts along with tons of love and licks to give? Trina is your girl! She came to the shelter after being found as an emaciated stray but has since put healthy weight on. This girl was definitely someone’s pet at some point – she knows her basic commands and will gladly give her paw to you. Trina loves walks and would be ecstatic to have a fenced-in yard of her own to play in with her future family. She may do well sharing her home with other dogs but would need a meet & greet with them first. Consider our sweet Trina when making a new addition to your family.
Female, Pit bull, 2 years
Jasper had a rough start to life and found himself on the euthanasia list at another shelter. Not only had he never known a loving home due to the abusive situation that he came out of, he was confused and afraid when everything he had ever known was taken away. We took Jasper in & a local trainer stepped up to work with him. Jasper even made friends with another adoptable dog of ours. He is still learning his manners and working to prepare himself for the new life that awaits him – he just needs to find the family that he so deserves. Jasper would like to find a home that consists of adults or teenagers and he would love a fenced-in yard where he can play.
Male, Cur mix, 1 year
Beautiful Bella is looking for a foster or better yet a forever home! Bella has been a student in the Pawsitive Direction Program – LARC 501c3 in Loxahatchee to work on training for the past few months. She will graduate soon fully obedience trained, AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) ready, and/or Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Canine Life and Social Skills (CLASS) ready.
Bella is a 5 year old pit bull mix, with a beautiful tri-color coat and expressive eyes. Her new family should be ready for a house/kennel trained, wiggly medium-energy pup who promises endless love and devotion to her people. Since she does have a prey drive, she needs a home as the only pup with no small furry or feathered animals. She’s smart, focused and would be excellent at a sport or spending time on a lure course. Bella would do well with kids; she lived with a special needs little boy at one point and did amazing!
To fill out a foster or adoption application, contact Nicole (561) 723-8197 or send a message to one of the following facebook pages: Loxahatchee Animal Rescue Community, Inc. or Pawsitive Direction Program – LARC 501c3.
They call me Lola Bananas and I’m the cutest 100 pound baby you’ll ever meet! Overall, I’m pretty calm, but I like to be silly and playful at times.
Once I get to know you, I’ll probably try to fit myself into your lap. Soaking up affection is what I do best. I also enjoy going on walks and I behave nicely on leash. I had a loving home but I just could not get along with their other dog – so I’m hoping someone with an empty nest will take me in. Consider adding loads of love and loyalty to your family by applying to adopt me today!

Her foster mom writes….
“Bonnie is a loving pup who is ready to find her forever! She is a 2 year old terrier mix who loves to cuddle and please her humans. She has been in foster for a month, due to being stressed in the shelter environment, but she has really come out of her shell in foster. Bonnie is crate trained, house trained, great with her 2 year old human foster sister, her 1 year old pup foster sister and her foster kitty siblings. Bonnie does exhibit some food and toy aggression, but responds very well to verbal commands and corrections.
Although she does get along with foster sister, it is recommended to ease Bonnie into meeting other dogs, as she can be defensive. Bonnie loves toys (especially balls and playing fetch), running around outside with her puppy foster sister and going for walks. She is a sweet girl who loves to play but also loves to snuggle up. In November Bonnie gave birth to 4 adorable puppies who have all found their homes, and now it is her turn to find her furever family!”
To set up a time to meet Bonnie, call Dogs & Cats Forever at 772-489-5454.
Female, Terrier mix, 3 years
I might be a cute 20 pounds of scruff, but I like to be on the move! I’m Libby, and I’m ready to be someone’s new best friend. I like other dogs and even kids, but older kids would be best since I have a tendency to slip out of open doors. My loving family realized that they couldn’t meet my exercise needs or keep me safe. My energy and drive to be busy means that I have an endless supply of FUN to offer to my future family. I would be so happy to find a home with a secure fenced-in yard of my own, along with a family that can commit to keeping me stimulated. Consider me if you like be active and have fun!
Ming is a quiet 10 year old Chow Chow in search of a loving forever home and a nap-time buddy. Sadly, her owners could no longer care for themselves, let alone care for her. She hopes to find someone special that loves her dearly once again. Although she definitely loves her walks, Ming would enjoy a peaceful retirement where she has a cozy place to relax – and someone to share it with.
Blake is a 6 year old pit bull mix. He is currently residing in a foster home where he is thriving. Please ask about scheduling a time to meet him! Blake is in search of an adult home with a fenced-in yard where he can be the only pet.
Blake’s foster mom writes…
If you didn’t know this guys past, you would think that he was the perfect dog! He is so calm and loving in my shop outside of the shelter that was a crazy environment for him.
He sits, stays, places, waits for his food and has learned to walk perfectly on a leash. The boxer in him means he likes multiple short walks where he has time to take in all the smells! We take 3 walks a day and it helps him with his energy level tremendously. He loves to ride in the car with the wind on his face, smelling the world as we drive by!
At my shop, nothing I do bothers him. He will come to see what I’m working on and offer assistance…lol….but if I dont need his help, he lies happily on his bed or puts himself in his crate for a nap! He adores his nylabone that his friend Alexis got him and just loves to sit with me while he happily chews away!
Throughout the day we have an affirmation sessions where I tell him “You are beautiful! You are worth life! You are smart and you are calm and kind. You will find a loving peaceful home after you have healed mind, body, and spirit. You are a great friend!”
Please keep him in your prayers. To return to the shelter would set him back so far! I have faith that some kind person will find him!!!
I’m Mimi, a 10 year old Boxer/Beagle mix. Yeah, I’m a senior girl, but I like to be on the move! I’ve got energy and love to run around as if I’m a young pup. Having time to exercise is important to me, whether it is through several daily walks or a fenced-in yard. Swimming is my absolute favorite activity! I know basic commands such as sit and stay. I’m also housebroken. I do need a very special person and that is probably why I’ve been waiting for so long. It takes me awhile to get used to people, and most people aren’t willing to wait. I hope that one day, someone will really try for me. If that person volunteered to spend time with me regularly, it would give me the time that I need to open up to them prior to going home. I would do best as the only pet in the home. I have potential, and I deserve to spend my golden years with a family to call my own.
I’m Sadie, a 10 year old lab/shepherd mix, let’s get to know each other. I’m an absolute doll once you get to know me. I am a goofy girl who will wiggle and wag at the sight of a leash; I LOVE walks! I’m not only beautiful, I’m smart too. I know my basic commands and will gladly give you my paw. I need a living situation that can be difficult to find. I would do best as the only pet in a home with one adult person. The reason is, once I find a person of my own, I can be very protective of that person. I promise to make up for it with endless love, loyalty and lots of kisses.
Rosie is your typical goofy, smiley pitty. She would be happiest as the only dog in her future home. Here’s why we love her so much:
🐶 Action-packed, wiggly six year old
🐶 Smart girl, knows her basic commands
🐶 Loves to ZOOM – dreams of her own yard
🐶 WUFS playtime & giving kisses
🐶 Asks for a family to give all of her LOVE to
HANDSOME, SMART & ADOPTABLE…
Beautiful Dre could be your newest family member! This beautiful boy knows his basic commands and loves to play fetch! Dre dreams of having a fenced-in yard all to himself some day. He’s got a lot of pep in his step for an older guy but his energy isn’t overwhelming. Dre’s ideal home would be one where he can be a solo pup with adults or older kids. Stop by the shelter to meet this sweet man!
Pit Bull, Male, 9 years
Are you single and ready to mingle? Active and love to have fun? Well, Jax is your man! This handsome boy bonds with one person and sticks to them, so he is in search of a home where he can have just one person all to himself. Jax is a 9 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix with tons of love to give. He is extremely smart, energetic and would love to have an active person who can give him stimulation and a job to do.
I’m Baba, an 8 year old pit bull mix. I’ve called the shelter home since I was a puppy. I’m a really sweet, playful boy who loves to give kisses, but I will need a special home. I will have to be the only pet in an adult home, with a fenced-in yard to call my own. I need a responsible, experienced handler that can keep me away from other animals. I get anxious outside of my room, so I need someone to work with me to help me feel comfortable.
I’m Ezra, a 2 year old shepherd mix. I was rescued from an awful situation, which causes me to be very untrusting and scared of people that I don’t know. I’m really hoping someone will come along and see the potential I have to be their best friend. I just need someone who is willing to be patient and get to know me. I need an experienced adult home, I am dog selective so if you have a dog already, we will have to meet first.
This happy guy is named Diesel. Diesel is a 9 year old Lab/American Bulldog mix. He loves to play and has a great disposition. Diesel needs lots of exercise so if you have a big fenced-in yard or love to go on walks Diesel may be the dog for you.
I’m Jeffrey, a 5 year old curr mix! I came to the shelter as a stray, I was found wandering in the rain. I’m a quiet & calm boy, but I am nervous so I need someone who understands that. I am looking for a quiet adult home, as the only pet, and will need a fenced-in yard. I get nervous with a lot of people around, but I promise to be a loyal companion to my future adopter.
Hey there, I’m Browny, a 6 year old hound mix! I can be a little shy at first. I’m the most handsome boy, and I love to carry my toys around with me. I need an experienced adult home with no other pets; I want you all to myself! I’ll also need a fenced-in yard to run around and be a goof ball in. Come in to meet me, I’ll sit and give my paw to you.
Hey, Briggs here. I’m a 2 1/2 year old curr/hound mix. I’m a handsome guy who you’re sure to love once you get to know me. The shelter says that I could use some basic training, which is totally fine with me, I’ll do whatever it takes to find my forever family. I’m in search of an active adult home as the only pet. I’ll also need a fenced-in yard where I can run and play with you.
Jeremiah will doggy paddle his way into your heart! Actually, a cannon ball is more like his style.
Going on walks with our volunteers is one of his favorite pastimes, but swimming is definitely Jeremiah’s preferred method of travel. He has been searching for a forever home since he was abandoned at our front door in the middle of the night, about three years ago. This handsome five year old boy’s energy and personality wins hearts, but the fact that he would like to be the only pet in his future home has made it difficult for us to find him a family that is a good fit. This guy would love to be on the move, so a home with a fenced-in yard would be the place of his dreams. Consider being the one to finally make all of his dreams come true, stop by to meet Jeremiah!
Hey, Luke here. I’m a sweet guy looking for my forever home. I’m a 3 year old Lab/Blue heeler mix. I’m good with other dogs and need an adult home. My sister, Leah, is up for adoption too; it would be pretty cool if we could go to a home together, but if you only have room for one that’s okay too.
Yin is a 7 year old Lab/American Bulldog mix who has called the shelter her home for many years, but she is hopeful that some day her special person will find her. She would like to be someone’s one and only baby, so she is in search of a home without other pets. Yin is very playful and desires a fenced-in yard to call her own. She prefers men over women. This beautiful girl truly has the potential to be an incredible companion.
Mya was found as a stray in the summer of 2014, and brought to Dogs & Cats Forever No-Kill Shelter in Fort Pierce, FL. She had mange and was put on several medications by a veterinarian, but sadly, she had an allergic reaction to her medications, and developed an autoimmune response to her meds. She has been to specialists in Stuart, West Palm Beach, and Gainesville, at the University of Florida. She is slowly getting better but has run up more than $5,000.00 in vet bills and medication costs. Her vets say that it could take more than a year for her to recover fully. Mya is only a year old and has a wonderful personality despite being in and out of clinics and given medicine almost nonstop.
Mya needs veterinary care for many months to come, and while Dogs & Cats Forever is currently responsible for her care, we are a private animal shelter which receives no financial assistance from local government, and we need help to pay her bills. Please help Mya get better so she can one day find a forever home.
