Mimi

I’m Mimi, a 10 year old Boxer/Beagle mix. Yeah, I’m a senior girl, but I like to be on the move! I’ve got energy and love to run around as if I’m a young pup. Having time to exercise is important to me, whether it is through several daily walks or a fenced-in yard. Swimming is my absolute favorite activity! I know basic commands such as sit and stay. I’m also housebroken. I do need a very special person and that is probably why I’ve been waiting for so long. It takes me awhile to get used to people, and most people aren’t willing to wait. I hope that one day, someone will really try for me. If that person volunteered to spend time with me regularly, it would give me the time that I need to open up to them prior to going home. I would do best as the only pet in the home. I have potential, and I deserve to spend my golden years with a family to call my own.

Sadie

I’m Sadie, a 10 year old lab/shepherd mix, let’s get to know each other. I’m an absolute doll once you get to know me. I am a goofy girl who will wiggle and wag at the sight of a leash; I LOVE walks! I’m not only beautiful, I’m smart too. I know my basic commands and will gladly give you my paw. I need a living situation that can be difficult to find. I would do best as the only pet in a home with one adult person. The reason is, once I find a person of my own, I can be very protective of that person. I promise to make up for it with endless love, loyalty and lots of kisses.

Dre

Dre is a 9 year old male pit bull. Once he gets to know you, he is very friendly and lovable. He would do good as the only pet in the home, with adults or older children only. Despite being a senior boy, he has a lot of energy so he will require a fenced-in yard where he can play in between walks with his owner. Dre knows his basic commands such as down and sit. He can even shake your hand. If you’re looking for a very hearty dog with a lots of love to give, Dre may be the dog for you.

Jax

This is Jax, a 9 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. Jax is a great dog for an active family. Jax would do well in an environment where he has lots of exercise or a specific job to do. He’s very smart and loyal but needs stimulation. Jax likes to herd and he uses his mouth to pull you somewhere to show you something. Small children would probably not be a good fit but as long as you understand how Jax operates and behaves you will quickly learn Jax is an awesome dog and very very smart. He will require a special home though: he needs to have a single female owner, he does not do well with men. Come to the shelter and meet him and you will see for yourself how awesome Jax is.

Baba

I’m Baba, an 8 year old pit bull mix. I’ve called the shelter home since I was a puppy. I’m a really sweet, playful boy who loves to give kisses, but I will need a special home. I will have to be the only pet in an adult home, with a fenced-in yard to call my own. I need a responsible, experienced handler that can keep me away from other animals. I get anxious outside of my room, so I need someone to work with me to help me feel comfortable.

Jeffrey

Jeffrey2

I’m Jeffrey, a 5 year old curr mix! I came to the shelter as a stray, I was found wandering in the rain. I’m a quiet & calm boy, but I am nervous so I need someone who understands that. I am looking for a quiet adult home, as the only pet, and will need a fenced-in yard. I get nervous with a lot of people around, but I promise to be a loyal companion to my future adopter.

Princess

Princess2

I’m Princess, a sweet 12 year old shepherd/rottweiler mix. I lost my home when my owner’s house was foreclosed on, and they could no longer care for me. I’ve been waiting here at the shelter for my forever family for several years. I need a home with adults or older children and without cats. I will need to meet your dog first if you have one. I’m shy and any potential adopters should know that I will require a little patience, but it will be very rewarding for both of us if you give me a chance.

PRINCESS1

Rex

Rex

Hey, I’m Rex, a 4 year old german shepherd. I can be a little people selective. But those who have gotten to know me call me a sweet guy. I have some medical issues that make it hard for me to be adopted, the staff can tell you more about that. I need an experienced handler in an adult home as the only pet. I promise to be loyal to my owner.

Prince

Prince is a handsome six-year-old boy who arrived at the shelter with his siblings, Harper and Hailey. He is very social with other cats and he likes people. He would be happiest in a calm home with another cat.

Great news! Prince’s adoption fee has been paid by his Guardian Angel.

Yin

YinYin is the other half of Yang whom has already been adopted. Yin is a six year old female American Bulldog and Hound Mix. She would do well in an adult home with no other pets. Yin likes to spend her free time chasing lizards. If you are looking for a new best friend, stop by the shelter and say hello, she would love to meet you!

Mya

user_photo-55297b71018a3

Mya was found as a stray in the summer of 2014, and brought to Dogs & Cats Forever No-Kill Shelter in Fort Pierce, FL. She had mange and was put on several medications by a veterinarian, but sadly, she had an allergic reaction to her medications, and developed an autoimmune response to her meds. She has been to specialists in Stuart, West Palm Beach, and Gainesville, at the University of Florida. She is slowly getting better but has run up more than $5,000.00 in vet bills and medication costs. Her vets say that it could take more than a year for her to recover fully. Mya is only a year old and has a wonderful personality despite being in and out of clinics and given medicine almost nonstop.
Mya needs veterinary care for many months to come, and while Dogs & Cats Forever is currently responsible for her care, we are a private animal shelter which receives no financial assistance from local government, and we need help to pay her bills. Please help Mya get better so she can one day find a forever home.

Hawthorne

TDP_3056o9c0414-copy-1-913x288Great news! Hawthorne’s adoption fee has been prepaid by a Guardian Angel

Hawthorne is a young cat who has tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (also called FIV or feline AIDS). He was rescued after being dumped at a local park. He is a sweet and loving boy who was obviously a house pet as a kitten, but as so often happens, was no longer wanted after he grew into a cat. Hawthorne would be perfect for a family of any age. What does owning a FIV+ cat entail? Click here to learn more.

Hawthorne has lots of love to give and he wants to give it all to you!

Bojangles

bojanglesBojangles

Bojangles was trapped accidentally by a staff member, who was trying to capture another cat which had run away from her home. Bojangles had scars from many fights with other unneutered male cats and, sadly, tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Now that he has been neutered and has been at the shelter for awhile, he is looking-and feeling-much better, and staff and volunteers love his sweet personality. Bojangles never had a real home, but we are sure he would love a chance to be part of a loving family. What does owning a FIV+ cat entail? Click here to learn more.

Great News! Bojangles’ adoption fee has been paid by a Guardian Angel
