Koko and Koda

Koko and Koda have been at the shelter ever since they were kittens. They were initially very shy but have become very receptive to people. They need a semi active home with adults and older kids.

Cross my paws and scout’s honor – it wasn’t me!

We are a sweet two-year-old brother pair who have been at the shelter ever since we were kittens. We used to be very shy but we have become very good with people. We are fabulous with other cats and would love a home of our own with our very own family. Visit us today…We would love to meet you!

Great news!! Our adoption fee has been paid by our guardian angel.

Sweetie Pie

Sweetie pie is a beautiful 13 year-old long-haired girl who loves people. She’s the official greeter in the cat building and would love a home as an only cat where she can get lots of TLC.

How can anyone resist this sweet face? Aren’t I purrfect?

I’m a beautiful thirteen-year-old girl who was at the shelter for 3 1/2 years before I was adopted last spring. Unfortunately, my owners lost their home and I had to come back to the shelter. I’m very sweet and I love to interact with people, but I don’t like to be picked up and I’m not comfortable jumping on anything higher than a chair. I often greet visitors at the back door and I am the first cat you see when you come into the building! I am tolerant of other cats but I would enjoy being your one and only. I’m hoping for another chance at a home, so meet me and let’s fall in love.

Great news!! My guardian angel has paid my adoption fee.

Assistance Needed-(graphic)

Dogs & Cats Forever Inc. strives to end animal abuse and neglect. Our shelter is not connected to any other animal society. It’s a non-profit, 501, tax exempt project and is totally dependent on donations and endowments. Within the last 3 months we have had young pregnant dogs dumped/abandoned at our shelter that had required emergency c-sections. We were able to save a couple of puppies, but others have died and caused uterus infections in some of the mama dogs. This is not to mention other dogs/cats that have been dropped off with severe skin infections and other medical issues. “Mercy” who just came in yesterday with a dead puppy sticking out of her, is just one example of what our shelter is doing. Due to COVID 19 and lack of donations we are struggling with excessive vet cost. Mercy’s vet bill alone will be between $1700-$2100 (receipt can be provided). We are committed to be a “NO-KILL” shelter and do our best in caring for all the animals in the shelter. Without your continued support our shelter may not be able to help these animals with these extreme medical cost.

If possible, we are accepting donations through our website using PayPal, or you can go to the shelter, located at 4600 Selvitz Road, Fort Pierce, Fl. 34981 and/or call 772-489-5844 to make a cash and/or credit donation. No amount is too small. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Jack

Jack is a friendly youngster Who came to the shelter after being injured as a stray in Miami. He is FIV positive but in good health now that his leg has healed and he’s ready for his forever home my baby

Well, hello there – I’m Jack! How you doin’?
I’m a friendly young adult who came to Dogs & Cats Forever after being injured as a stray in Miami. I’m definitely feeling better now and ready to meet the public. I’m very friendly and I get along with other cats. Unfortunately, I am FIV-Positive as a consequence of living outside but I don’t need any special food or special medical treatments. All I need is a loving home!

Great news!! My guardian angel has paid my adoption fee.

Well, hello there! How you doin’?

Caesar

Lock eyes with Caesar and that’ll be all that it takes for him to have your heart forever. He is a major goof ball and just a delight to be around. This super active one year old boy and would love to find a home with a fenced-in yard where he can zoom around and play! We were told that he has done well with other dogs in the past, but not all of the dogs that he has met were very friendly. We recommend a slow introduction for him to any potential doggy siblings. Consider bringing home the love of your life today, adopt Caesar!

Leah

ONE YEAR WITH NO INTEREST, WILL ANYONE EVER COME FOR ME? My name is Leah. I’m starting to think that nobody will give me a chance. I would make an excellent companion for an active adult family and I like other dogs. I’m a girl who loves to have fun, go swimming and would enjoy having a fenced-in yard to run and play in with my people! When I see someone that I don’t know, I bark. Trust me, I’m all talk – I have to alert my people when a stranger is near! But, just ignore me for a minute, and I will soon become your new best friend. Unfortunately, most would just dismiss a dog like me and walk on by, and that’s why I’ve been here for over a year. I’m a real sweet heart once I know you, and it doesn’t take much time or effort. I might put up a front but I’ll melt in your hands like putty shortly after. Loads of love and licks are in the future of my adopter.

Female, Lab mix, 4 years

Bella

Beautiful Bella is looking for a foster or better yet a forever home! Bella has been a student in the Pawsitive Direction Program – LARC 501c3 in Loxahatchee to work on training for the past few months. She will graduate soon fully obedience trained, AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) ready, and/or Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Canine Life and Social Skills (CLASS) ready.

Look, I dressed up just for you! Bella is a 5 year old pit bull mix, with a beautiful tri-color coat and expressive eyes. Her new family should be ready for a house/kennel trained, wiggly medium-energy pup who promises endless love and devotion to her people. Since she does have a prey drive, she needs a home as the only pup with no small furry or feathered animals. She’s smart, focused and would be excellent at a sport or spending time on a lure course. Bella would do well with kids; she lived with a special needs little boy at one point and did amazing!

To fill out a foster or adoption application, contact Nicole (561) 723-8197 or send a message to one of the following facebook pages: Loxahatchee Animal Rescue Community, Inc. or Pawsitive Direction Program – LARC 501c3.

Meeka

My name is Meeka. I’m a beautiful 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog who lost my home when my owner had a baby. I am fairly calm and gentle indoors, but as soon as I get outside, I am ready for action! I love to chase just about anything that you can throw (sticks, tennis balls, ropes). Since I will require a lot of safe off-leash play, I’m looking for a home with a fenced-in yard. I hope that the right person will read this and want to make me their new baby!

Rocky

Attention everybody – Rocky is in the house (and hopefully one day, he will be in yours)! At just four years old – this Boxer mix has the smarts and the endearing personality that anyone would adore. Whether he’s playing with you and your active family in a fenced-in yard of his own, or curled up on the couch during your favorite tv show, Rocky is living proof that life is just better with four paws and a wagging tail around.
Rocky has spent half of his life with us, and while we love having a guy like him around, no dog should have to spend years without a family! Take a bit of time to get to know him, and you’ll be asking how he could be passed up for so long! Rocky needs to be the only pet in his home, so finding a family with an empty nest can be difficult. Please share Rocky and help us find the family he’s been waiting for!

Popcorn

TDP_6043IMG_20170410_163917348Did someone say movie? Then you absolutely need me along for the ride! I am a nearly 7 year-old female who needs some TLC. I was found living outside a fast-food restaurant, and although I am shy, I enjoy petting and love! I need a quiet home with someone who can spend time with me and earn my trust.

UPDATE…I was adopted last year after spending six years at the shelter. Unfortunately,  I was returned after a few months because the resident cat was attacking me. I have only been back a short time, but I am  receptive to petting and love. I am still hopeful that I will find a special someone to love  and who will love me  as well.  Will I ever be a lap cat? Who knows?  But I  still have the potential to be your loving companion in a quiet home.

Meet me today and get to know me better. I  may be just who you’re looking for.

Great news! My guardian angel has paid my adoption fee.

Rex

Rex

Hey, I’m Rex, a 4 year old german shepherd. I can be a little people selective. But those who have gotten to know me call me a sweet guy. I have some medical issues that make it hard for me to be adopted, the staff can tell you more about that. I need an experienced handler in an adult home as the only pet. I promise to be loyal to my owner.
